College Interns Participate in OICF Professional Development Institute and Presentation of Learning

The OICF produced a day long Professional Development Institute and Presentation of Learning with students from its member institutions with gracious help from Merrit Quarum M.D., Chair, OICF Career Workforce Development Program Committee and Chairman and CEO, Qmedtrix Systems, Inc. on August 10, 2007.

The OICF offered students from all ten of its member institutions the opportunity to participate in the Oregon Management Internship.  Students that were accepted to the Oregon Management Internship were invited to attend the Professional Development Institute (PDI) and Presentation of Learning. Participants learned about Oregon’s key industries and role in the global economy from John Mitchell, noted economist who served as the event’s key note speaker.

Each student attending the PDI made a Presentation of Learning to attendees. Students used their own ingenuity and creativity to present a synopsis of their intern experience to include an interpretative performance on Healthcare Reform in Politics. Attendees participated in breakout sessions where they discussed their experiences and the OICF’s career workforce development program. The sessions provided important feedback that will be used by OICF leadership to increase the recruitment and placement of OICF students as interns (through the Oregon Management Internship) and part and full-time employees with member companies in the region.
