Culturally Diverse Students from Oregon Community Partners start New Year with OICF College Tours

The The Oregon Independent College Foundation (OICF) is pleased to report on a second series of successful campus tours on January 30 for more than 120 students from Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI) and the Oregon Council for Hispanic Advancement (OCHA).  OICF’s inaugural campus tours for SEI and OCHA students, as well as students from the Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA), took place on November 1, 2006.  Students had an opportunity to tour one campus in the morning and one in the afternoon.  All ten OICF member colleges and universities hosted a group.

Nate Shull, Oregon Leadership Institute Director at OCHA said, “Well done! to all of you who took part in the OICF college tours. OCHA student involvement was outstanding, with approximately 80 students from 10 Portland high schools and middle schools taking part. Thank you for being a great team throughout this event, and for helping plant the seeds of higher education in the minds of these students.”

Students from SEI, OCHA, and NAYA will participate in an additional campus tour on April 12, 2007.

Students affiliated with the Oregon Council for Hispanic Advancement heading out from Madison High Schools for a day of tours.
