OICF's Scholars Luncheon and Career Fair Brings Together Student Scholars and Corporate Sponsors
The 2005-2006 OICF Scholars were honored at the annual Scholars Luncheon on February 23rd. This year students were invited to a Career Fair prior to the luncheon featuring recruiters from companies who sponsored a named scholarship program for this year, including Portland General Electric, UPS, Regence BlueCross/BlueShield, Bi-Mart, PacifiCorp, Bank of America, the Oregonian and JELD-WEN.

The luncheon program included a keynote address by PGE President and CEO Peggy Fowler, and testimonials from Saurra Olesen and Leigh Halverson, both recipients of the PGE Foundation scholarship.

OICF Students Gather for Student Leadership Conference
Student government leaders from eight OICF schools gathered February 2nd at Concordia University to share with each other events happening on their campuses, and to discuss possible means of collaboration between the campuses. A second meeting amongst these students is tenatively scheduled for April.

OICF Receives $11,000 Gift Through the 2005 PGE Employee Giving Campaign
In just one month, employees and retirees of PGE pledged more than $1.2 million (including PGE's match of 50%) to 665 diverse nonprofit agencies, including an $11,000 gift to the OICF. Of the $1.2 million total, more than $130,000 went towards education. For more information on this giving campaign, click here.

OICF Students Meet U.S. Comptroller General David Walker
Students representing eight of OICF's member institutions attended a program featuring U.S. Comptroller General David Walker on Thursday, December 1st. The program, part of Walker's "Fiscal Wake-Up Tour," brought together high school students, college students, and members of the Portland business community to discuss the current fiscal situation of the United States. OICF COLLEGE FAIR
Admissions officers from all ten OICF schools participated in OICF's first annual College Fair on Wednesday, November 16th at Self Enhancement, Inc. Photos are available here.

Nearly 150 high school students from Self Enhancement, Inc., Oregon Council for HIspanic Advancement, and Native American Youth Association were in attendance. Click here for more information about Campus Diversity.

OICF Elects New Board Members at Annual Board Meeting
We are pleased to announce the Mr. Robert Maloney, partner at Lane Powell LLC, was elected Chair of the OICF Board of Trustees at our Annual Meeting on Monday, October 3rd. Mr. Maloney replaces Ms. Peggy Fowler of Portland General Electric, who served as Chair from January 2002 - September 2005. Dr. Colin Diver, President of Reed College was named Vice Chair of the Board. Photos are available here.
